Janurary 2010 Update

Update: Norwalk High Cafeteria bins for recycling.  We are anxiously awaiting our new bins for the cafeteria.  We will be recycling all paper and paper products in one,  all plastics 1-7 in another and will continue to recycle all cans and bottles as we have been doing.  This combined with the recycling of all paper and cans/ bottles in all rooms and classrooms should save us $90.00 per ton of garbage that we spend now.  Currently we are still putting out a 90 Yard Dumpster with our waste.  Hopefully we can bring this down to next to nothing with our recycling efforts.  Keep up the good work and make sure to encourage all our students to do the same.

Update:  Norwalk Recyling DPW.  Approximately 100 billion grocery bags are used in the United States per year.  Recycled  plastic bags can be made into new products, such as building and construction materials, fencing and decking and new bags.

Norwalk Mayor Richard Moccia recently announced that starting this month, residents can now put Plastic Bags #1-7 with their co mingled (bottles and cans) for curbside collection.  Place all plastic bags inside a single plastic bag and place it on tip of your blue bin.

The transfer station will also have a container for plastic bags #1-7 as well as a container for hardcover books, waste oil, batteries, antifreeze, electronics, scrap metal and rigid plastics.
